Notes
Full international customs and immigration on site, 24h, cleared through the VIP/CIP lounge.
Velana International is the Maldives’ single point of entry, and for private flyers it works beautifully — with one caveat that shapes every itinerary we plan: the seaplanes that serve most resorts fly only in daylight.
Chartering to the Maldives
The airport itself is straightforward: a 3,400-metre Code F runway that has accepted every cabin class we arrange, 24-hour operations, no slot coordination, and immigration cleared in the executive lounge rather than at a desk. The onward leg is the design constraint. Seaplane transfers — the classic arrival for most outer-atoll resorts — stop flying around 16:00, so we time the inbound jet to land before mid-afternoon; miss the window and the alternatives are a speedboat, a domestic flight, or an unplanned night near Malé. Our Dubai to Maldives lane runs from €44,500 all-in on a super midsize, four hours’ block time, and connects naturally with Gulf departures.
Facilities
Private-jet passengers use the airport operator’s VIP facility, with lounge clearance and escort to the aircraft or straight to the Noovilu seaplane terminal next door. Fuel and handling run around the clock, with one scheduling footnote: no fuel or handling during Friday prayer hour. December to January and Easter are the congestion peaks — parking for a stay is arranged early or the aircraft repositions.
Frequently asked questions
Can you fly a private jet directly to the Maldives?
Yes — Velana accepts business jets of every class, 24 hours a day. The aircraft lands two kilometres from Malé; the resort leg continues by seaplane, domestic flight or speedboat.
How much is a private jet to the Maldives?
From €44,500 all-in from Dubai on a super midsize jet. Longer missions from Europe are quoted per trip, usually on ultra-long-range aircraft.
Why does arrival time matter so much?
Because seaplane transfers are daylight-only. We plan the jet to arrive before mid-afternoon so the connection to the resort happens the same day.
