Milano Linate.
Linate is Milan's downtown airport — 7 km from the centre, twelve minutes to San Babila on the driverless M4 metro, and a dedicated private terminal run by SEA Prime. Its capacity is capped by ministerial decree well below what the runway could handle, which makes it Europe's most convenient Milan entry and one of its most rigid slot environments at once.
Chartering from Linate
Linate is fully coordinated, Level 3: every movement, general aviation included, requires an allocated airport slot, and because the cap is political rather than technical, peak-period demand routinely exceeds supply. We request slots through the handler early and build flexibility into the ask — a modest schedule tolerance can be the difference between confirmed and waitlisted. The single 2,442 m runway takes ultra-long-range business jets comfortably; airliner-size group charters generally use Malpensa, where SEA Prime runs a sister facility. London–Milan starts from €13,000 all-in.
Nights, maintenance windows and the event calendar
There is no absolute closure, but between 23:00 and 06:00 Italian noise rules limit movements to aircraft meeting at least ICAO Chapter 3 standards — nearly all modern business jets qualify, though we verify night availability case-by-case with SEA Prime. The runway also closes briefly for maintenance three times a day, at 05:00, 13:00 and 18:00 local. Milan’s calendar drives the field: Fashion Week, Salone del Mobile and the 2026 Winter Olympics build-up all spike traffic, so for those windows we book slots and hangarage weeks ahead rather than days.
The private terminal and city access
Milano Prime’s Linate terminal added a new wing of roughly 2,000 sqm in 2024, with nine operator lounges, backed by eleven hangars totalling 28,500 sqm. Italy is EU and Schengen; non-Schengen arrivals clear customs and immigration inside the private terminal. The city sits 15 to 25 minutes away by car — or 12 by metro.

Questions.
Linate or Malpensa for a private jet to Milan?
Linate for almost every mission — it is 7 km from the centre. Malpensa takes airliner-size charters and offers more headroom when Linate is saturated.
How much lead time does Linate need?
A few days for a normal departure; weeks around Fashion Week, Salone del Mobile and Olympic windows, when slots and parking tighten first.
