Milan has two airports that matter and they are not interchangeable. Linate is ten minutes from the centre. Malpensa is closer to an hour.
Linate or Malpensa
Linate is the reason most people fly privately into Milan. It sits inside the ring road and the drive to the centre is short enough that the flight time stops being the interesting number.
Malpensa is a longer transfer and we recommend it when Linate slots have gone, when the aircraft is too large for Linate, or when you are connecting to a commercial long-haul. It is not a downgrade. It is a different trip.
The weeks that fill up
Milan Fashion Week runs twice a year and both editions fill Linate. Salone del Mobile in April does the same thing to a wider spread of dates. In those weeks we quote earlier and hold the slot before the aircraft, because the slot is what runs out.
August is quiet in a way that surprises people. The city empties and so does the airport.
Which aircraft.
Under two hours from London, so a light jet is usually the right aircraft and the right price. We would move you up to a midsize for a group of seven or more, or when you are continuing south to Rome or across to Olbia on the same day and the extra range removes a fuel stop.

Which Milan airport is best for a private jet?
Linate, in almost every case. It is about ten minutes from the centre against roughly an hour from Malpensa. Malpensa is the answer when Linate slots are gone or the aircraft is too large for Linate.
How long is the flight from London to Milan by private jet?
About one hour forty. Alpine weather occasionally adds routing, though rarely more than fifteen minutes.
Can we get a Linate slot during fashion week?
Usually, if we start early. Fashion week and Salone del Mobile are the two periods where Linate slots run out before aircraft do, so we secure the slot first and confirm the aircraft against it.
Is Bergamo an option?
It is, and it occasionally makes sense for a group already heading east or to the lakes. For the city itself the transfer time makes it a poor trade against Linate.
Can we fly Milan to the Riviera on the same day?
Yes. Milan to Nice is under an hour and we hold the aircraft rather than rebook it. Several of our clients pair Milan with Cannes or Monaco in one itinerary.
