Ciampino–G. B. Pastine.
Ciampino is Rome's designated business aviation gateway, the closest field to the city, with a dedicated general aviation terminal and fast-track customs. The whole operation is shaped by one number: the airport closes at 23:00, every night, with no extensions for anyone.
Chartering from Ciampino
During its 06:00 to 23:00 window, general aviation bound for Rome is expected to use Ciampino rather than Fiumicino. Charter flights need airport slots from the Italian coordinator Assoclearance; purely private flights are exempt, an unusual split we flag when quoting, because it changes how early the paperwork starts. The single 2,208 m runway is shared with scheduled low-cost and Italian state traffic and handles virtually every business jet, but daily movement caps and noise limits can tighten slot and parking availability at peak times, so we secure parking early in the summer season.
Our published lane prices the city: Paris–Rome from €13,000 all-in.
The 23:00 curfew
The overnight closure, 23:00 to 06:00 under Italian noise decree DM 345/2018, is hard. The only after-hours movements are state, humanitarian, emergency and rescue flights; charter does not qualify. A late dinner in Rome therefore means wheels-up before 23:00, or the flight repositions to Fiumicino, which is Rome’s overnight alternate. We plan late departures with margin against that door rather than optimism.
Access and the terminal
The dedicated general aviation terminal (around 1,800 m², fully renovated in 2016) has its own fast-track passport control and customs, so charter passengers never touch the commercial terminal. The reward for the curfew is geography: 12 km southeast of the centre, typically 25 to 40 minutes by car, the fastest transfer of Rome’s airports.
Questions.
Which Rome airport do private jets use?
Ciampino, during its operating hours; it is the designated business aviation field. Fiumicino takes overnight movements and overflow when Ciampino is at capacity.
Can you depart Rome after 23:00?
Not from Ciampino. The curfew has no commercial exceptions. Late departures move to Fiumicino, which we arrange when the schedule demands it.
How much is a private jet to Rome?
Paris–Rome from €13,000 all-in, an indicative from-price on our block-hour model. For peak season, book slots and parking a week or more ahead.
