At a glance

London to Verona by private jet takes about an hour and forty-five minutes, Farnborough to Verona Villafranca, from around €13,000 one-way for the whole aircraft. For the 583-nautical-mile leg a super-light jet is right-sized — most often a Pilatus PC-24, an Embraer Phenom 300 / 300E or a Cessna Citation CJ4. Verona is the natural gateway to Lake Garda, with the southern shore about thirty minutes by car, and the route keeps two seasons: opera evenings at the Arena from mid-June to early September, and the Dolomites ski flow in winter. The airport operates around the clock; in summer the real constraint is ramp space, so we secure parking first and build the schedule around it. About this route

London to Verona in 1h 45m.

Verona earns its place on the calendar twice a year. In summer it is the Arena opera festival — evening performances from mid-June to early September — and the villas of Lake Garda, whose southern shore at Peschiera and Sirmione is about thirty minutes from the airport. In winter the same runway serves the ski catchment north of the city, Trentino and South Tyrol. April adds Vinitaly, when the wine trade fills the ramp for a week.

Farnborough handles the London end cleanly — a dedicated business aviation airport with no airline traffic to queue behind — and private handling at both ends keeps door-to-door time short.

Villafranca is a joint civil-military field with a 3,068-metre runway that takes every business aircraft class, and it operates around the clock with no night curfew, which makes a departure after the final curtain at the Arena a realistic plan rather than a special request. It is not fully slot-coordinated, but private movements need prior permission and ramp approval is the binding constraint: in summer overnight parking is usually limited to a single night, and Wednesdays and Saturdays are the hardest days for stand space. For longer stays the aircraft repositions — Brescia Montichiari is the usual overflow — and returns when you need it.

All private traffic goes through the field’s single FBO, which runs its own airside terminal with private customs and immigration and boarding directly at the aircraft, so non-Schengen arrivals clear at the FBO rather than the main terminal.

A super-light jet suits the leg: the PC-24, Phenom 300 / 300E and Citation CJ4 carry six to eight passengers in comfort at this range. For opera Saturdays and peak ski weekends we like a few days’ notice, mostly for the parking; the rest of the year Verona is a flexible, uncrowded arrival.
